The Guardian was designed around the realities of whitewater rescue, not just general outdoor use. The blunt safety tip eliminates puncture risk to rafts, drysuits, and skin during the kind of high-stress, close-quarters situations where a point becomes a liability. The blade is 3" overall, meeting Maine IF&W regulations for whitewater guides straight out of the box.
The edge is a purpose-built combo: 1.5" of wide, hand-filed serrations for fast rope cutting action, paired with 1.5" of straight edge for camp tasks and precision work. G10 handle scales are rough-finished with a topographic texture derived from the Bigelow Mountains in western Maine, our backyard, giving you a grip that locks in even in wet conditions. A single finger groove adds retention when it counts.
The Kydex sheath is built for how guides actually rig their gear. Retention is tight enough to keep the knife secure in the most demanding scenarios, while multiple mounting holes and slots let you configure it wherever it works best, shoulder strap, lash tab, or elsewhere on your PFD. Pair it with our Lash Tab Clip (sold separately) for the most low-profile river knife setup on the market, held in place by a titanium clip, not the injection-molded plastic found on competing systems.

I love my tripper so much I had to buy another one when i saw theres a new color and update to the scales wity the topo design. The green with purple sheath is awesome, toxic avenger color scheme! The fit and finish is amazing on these knives. The retention on the sheath is perfect, and only comes out when you need it to. I use my knives hard as a WMNF trail maintainer, and these things hold up and hold an edge through everything I’ve thrown at it. I use it 25% as a river knife and 75% as a forrest EDC. River knives are awesome woods knives when you are still dealing with a lot of precipitation. I can go on and on but TLDR these are my absolute favorite fixed blades, hands down!
Hands down my favoritre knife in my collection. I truly use my knives as tools. Mostly for general work as a trail maintainer, but also for river and fishing. The tripper isnt just a river knife, but a master of all. It has great corrosion resistance, is light as hell, and holds a sharp edge very well. The build quality, fit and finish is phenomenal. Color schemes make you look dope while you’re at it. And you get a truly made in maine tool. I can’t rave about the tripper enough! Can’t wait to buy another on the next drop.

This is a real knife. Not a mass produced “river knife”. Once I handled it I realized this is a life-long type knife. I like that it is very low profile while still feeling robust. It’s very sharp and feels secure in its sheath. When my rafting days are over, I could see still using this for camping and hunting.
Love my new knife! WAY more than I'd usually spend on such a thing, but the craftsmanship and customer service ultimately made it well worth the expense.
These knives are excellent, high quality. I purchased both because I loved my first one and didn't want to miss out. If you have an NRS pilot knife this is the ideal upgrade. The only critique I have is a personal preference, I wish the handle had a slightly rougher surface for grip.
I've seen a lot of river knives over the years. The quality and design on these puppies surpasses all that have come. The attachment configuration works well. I can't wait for the river season to get here to slice my sammich tomatoes with this knife and hopefully never use it for what it is intended.
